What is Alliance?

Alliance is a Live Action Roll Playing (LARP) game, a fantasy role playing game like D&D that is done in real life instead of through dice and character sheets. Alliance has chapters all across the USA, a character created in any chapter can be played in any chapter!

What is NEPA?

NEPA is the chapter of Alliance that covers the north eastern parts of PA and up into NY state. NEPA stands for North East Pennsylvania.

Where do you play?

Our primary site is EMR Event Park, found at 577 Wolf's Lair Road (Rt 706 & 601), New Milford, PA 18834.

We also have had winter parlor events at The Edison , found at 410 Market Street (side rear entrance), Sunbury, PA 17857.

Where can I make/experiment with my character build?

All characters and associated goblin/dragonstamps can be found here on the CMA! If you would like to make test characters for fun, check out the freeplay form.

What are gobbies?

Gobbies or Goblin stamps are an out-of-game currency that is awarded at each chapter to players who help the chapter run its game. They can be spent to gain experience from events you where unable to attend (some restrictions apply). They can also be spent on some in-game items depending on the chapter- reach out to us for a full list of things they can be used on in our chapter. Gobbies can be earned by NPCing, donation materials, food, props or money, volunteering at fairs or conventions.

How can I spend my gobbies at NEPA?

Here are some options:

Blanketing your character on the CMA!

Magic items!

Boons of the Forgotten!

Public Projects!

And all of the options offered in the rulebook, such as adventuring equipment, various buffs, and much more!

Do I have to sign a waiver?

Yup! Two actually, one for the LARP and one for the site. You’re invited print and sign both to bring with you, but they will be available at Logistics.

Pick List Linked Here

Ritual List Here

At Ascension, we want to make sure that people who go out of their way to lend a hand to the chapter get properly rewarded for their efforts! That’s why we offer our players the Magic Item Pick List, from which anyone can “buy” Magic Items, scrolls, catalysts, or components. Of course, you need to have enough Goblin Stamps and Magic Item Picks to afford what you want; if you’re unsure about how many stamps or picks you have, check with the General Manager (nepagm@gmail.com) and Logistics (nepalogistics@gmail.com).

For alternatives to the Pick List, please check out our Gifts of the Forgotten program (we will be doing an update to that as well soon), which allows for one-time purchases of weekend-long skill/spell packages.

While browsing the list and choosing what you wish to make, please keep in mind our new Magic Item Policy for 2023, which you may find here. Also while we did our best with the new change over of our list and policies there may still be a few issues that we need to iron out.

Consume/Greater Detect Magic Warning

Check the local chapter only rules. Magic items can be found and eaten by creatures in our chapter.

Requests
Once you’ve confirmed that you are able to afford your chosen item, submit your request to the General Manager (
nepagm@gmail.com) at least two weeks before the next Ascension event. Your submission should be as follows:
Subject: Magic Item Request.

Your name and character ID# from the CMA.
If you are using your own chosen item rep, describe it succinctly (e.g., “Silver necklace w/ green jewel,” “Black longsword w/ bear pommel,” etc.). If you do not have a rep, you will be issued one at random from the GM.
Which rituals you would like on it
If you are picking scrolls, list which ones.
For dual school/general aspect rituals, please choose an aspect (i.e., Earth, Celestial, or Necromantic), otherwise it will be chosen for you.
All requested items should be picked up at Logistics at the next Ascenion event unless noted otherwise.

Earning Picks
Magic Item Picks are rewarded for the amount of time a player has given to the chapter, for example:

Fundraisers and donation
NPCing
Crafting (garb, props, weapons, etc.)
Work Weekends
Conventions
If you’re interested in giving your time to help Ascension, let us know! We’re always looking for more helping hands!

Limitations

All requests are LCO (i.e., they do not travel to other chapters); LCO scrolls render their rituals/items/etc. LCO as well. This also means that they will count towards the 20-ritual Magic Item Cap.
LCO rituals must be cast upon an item rather than the person's spirit if possible.
LCO rituals may not be used to extend the duration of ritual effects from another chapter.
Catalysts may only be purchased for the listed scrolls.
Rituals on requested items must be of the same aspect (i.e., Celestial, Earth, or Necromantic).
Each requested Magic Item may have a maximum of 10 rituals.
Between events a player may request a maximum of any one of the following:
1 Magic Item
2 Scrolls
1 Catalyst
5 Components
1 Scroll/3 Components

Yes! To play in our main game with no restrictions, you must be 18 or older. However, we accept players 14 and up, who must follow the Page Policy and Rules. If we’re talking below that age, we usually have a yearly Kid’s Event (see Home page event list) that welcomes kids of all ages!

Can I play a non-combat role?

Yes. Due to medical issues, personal preference, or otherwise, you can become a Page, with modified game rules to ensure safety. This is most often used by underaged players, and can extend to anyone who wishes. Check it out!
